Shipping & Returns

A. Reiman offers one-of-one historic objects whose age, materials, condition, construction, and shipping requirements vary considerably. Each object is photographed and described individually, including visible condition issues and known restoration where identified. Please review the complete listing and contact us with any questions before purchasing.

Order Confirmation and Cancellations

An order is accepted only after payment has been authorized and A. Reiman has confirmed that the object remains available. If an object is unavailable, the payment will be voided or promptly refunded.

A cancellation may be requested before the object has been packed or released for shipment. Once specialist packing, crating, or freight arrangements have begun, documented and nonrecoverable costs may apply if those costs were disclosed before the order was completed.

If A. Reiman cannot ship within the period stated in the listing or order confirmation—or within 30 days if no shipping period was stated—we will notify you, provide a revised shipping date, and give you the choice to accept the delay or cancel the order for a prompt full refund.

Shipping and Delivery

Objects are packed according to their materials, condition, dimensions, and fragility. Shipping costs and available services may vary by object and destination.

“Confirmed delivery” means the delivery date recorded by the carrier or the date shown on a signed delivery record. Please inspect the package and object promptly after delivery.

A customer who provides an incorrect or incomplete address, refuses an undamaged shipment, or does not accept or collect a shipment may be responsible for the actual outbound, return, storage, and redelivery costs incurred.

Returns for U.S. Online Purchases

A U.S. online purchase may be returned for any reason if all of the following requirements are met:

  1. You email returns@areiman.comwithin 14 calendar days after confirmed delivery.

  2. You receive written return authorization and follow the packing, carrier, tracking, and insurance instructions provided.

  3. The return is tendered to the approved carrier within seven calendar days after authorization.

  4. The object is returned in the condition in which it was delivered, together with all certificates, research, documentation, frames, mounts, hardware, cases, and other accompanying material.

Please do not return an object without authorization. Because many objects are fragile, irregular, framed, or difficult to insure, A. Reiman may arrange the return shipment or require a particular carrier, packing method, or professional packing service.

For an ordinary return, the customer is responsible for the actual cost of return packing, tracked shipping, and insurance for the full purchase price of the object. When A. Reiman arranges these services, their actual cost may be deducted from the refund.

For an ordinary return, the customer bears the risk of loss or damage during return transit until the object has been received by A. Reiman. Compliance with the authorized packing, tracking, carrier, and insurance instructions is therefore required.

Original packing, shipping, freight, delivery, and expedited-service charges are not refundable on an ordinary return.

Once the approved return has been received and inspected, the refund will include the object’s purchase price and any sales tax attributable to that price, less any authorized return costs arranged by A. Reiman.

No restocking fee or payment-processing fee is charged on an approved ordinary return.

Returned Condition

An object may be carefully inspected but may not be cleaned, polished, repaired, conserved, treated, reframed, remounted, disassembled, installed, modified, or otherwise altered before return.

The customer is responsible for damage caused by handling, inadequate packing, unauthorized shipment, or failure to follow the return instructions.

If an object is returned with new damage, alteration, missing material, or another reduction in value, the refund may be reduced by the documented diminished value or reasonable cost of addressing the damage. A return may be refused if the object has been materially altered, substituted, seriously damaged, or returned incomplete.

Age, wear, repairs, staining, fading, losses, corrosion, restoration, and other conditions clearly disclosed in the listing do not constitute a material factual error. The ordinary 14-day return option remains available when its requirements are met.

Incorrect or Materially Misdescribed Objects

Please contact returns@areiman.compromptly if you believe that you received the wrong object or that the listing contained a material factual error.

A material factual error is an objective inaccuracy concerning the identity, age, maker, material, dimensions, condition, provenance, or another characteristic that would reasonably have affected the purchase decision. It does not include a condition issue clearly disclosed in the listing or a statement expressly identified as an opinion, supported interpretation, tentative attribution, plausible possibility, or unresolved uncertainty.

If A. Reiman confirms that the wrong object was sent or that the listing contained a material factual error, we will provide return instructions and cover the approved return cost. After the object has been returned in the condition delivered, the refund will include the purchase price, applicable sales tax, and the original standard-delivery charge.

Do not arrange a return shipment independently unless instructed to do so in writing.

Transit Damage

Visible transit damage should be reported to returns@areiman.com within 48 hours after delivery.

Please provide:

  • photographs of the complete object and the damaged area;

  • photographs of every side of the outer package;

  • photographs of the internal packing materials;

  • a photograph of the shipping label; and

  • a description of the condition in which the package and object arrived.

Keep the object, package, crate, labels, wrapping, cushioning, glazing fragments, and all other packing material until A. Reiman confirms in writing that they may be discarded. Do not clean, repair, reframe, unpack further than necessary, or return the object before receiving instructions.

A delay in reporting damage may impair the ability to pursue a carrier or insurance claim. Damage that could not reasonably have been discovered during the initial inspection will be reviewed if reported promptly after discovery.

When confirmed transit damage requires a return, A. Reiman will arrange or approve the return and will refund the purchase price, applicable sales tax, original standard-delivery charge, and approved return cost.

Authenticity, Material, and Attribution Questions

Listings distinguish confirmed facts from interpretations, attributions, possibilities, and unresolved questions.

A statement expressly identified as an attribution, opinion, interpretation, possibility, or uncertainty is not a guarantee that later scholarship or expert opinion will reach the same conclusion.

A claim concerning an express statement of authenticity, originality, authorship, maker, or material composition is not automatically excluded merely because the ordinary 14-day return period has ended. Contact A. Reiman promptly after discovering the basis for the claim. The object must remain unaltered and available for inspection.

A. Reiman may request supporting documentation or a written opinion from an appropriately qualified independent specialist before determining the appropriate resolution.

Nothing in this section creates an authenticity guarantee where the listing did not expressly make one.

Refunds

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within five business days after the returned object has been received and inspected, or after another resolution has been agreed in writing.

The customer’s bank, card issuer, or payment provider may require additional time to post the credit.

International Orders

International orders are accepted only by prior arrangement. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, international sales are final except where:

  • the wrong object was sent;

  • the object was materially misdescribed;

  • the object was damaged in transit; or

  • applicable law provides a right that cannot be waived.

The buyer is responsible for import duties, taxes, brokerage charges, permits, and destination-country restrictions. Duties and taxes paid to governments or third parties are not refunded by A. Reiman.
